Other Lynx of interest
You'd probably notice that I love historic buildings, places, films, and people. They often get woven into my artwork, so here is a list of places to check out for more background info and photos.
PCnate Planet: historic Michigan bridges (preferably the cement ones shown)
Forgotten Detroit: Elegant historical stage theatres and other buildings. The few that are currently gasping for breath, waiting for someone to restore them or to leave them to die beyond repair. One that has my interest is the United Artists because of its sheer beauty and that it was a building series that Charlie Chaplin (among others) invested in.
Greenfield Village & Henry Ford Museum: my favorite annual place to visit. I usually get a few photos here, and the place usually gets me into a nostalgic mood. I highly recommend visiting yourself! Greenfield Village focuses on approx 1800s-1920s, showing old buildings, peoples way of life, old-style eateries, an old merry-go-round, a riverboat, old-fashioned jobs (the making of newspapers, glass, pottery, tin items, silk, etc), Thomas Edison's buildings, and a train. Henry Ford Museum focuses on approx 1800s-1950s, features many old and weird autos and trains, engines, a tin-diner, an IMAX theatre, the history of home and clothing design, and the field of mass-production by Ford's idea of the automobile "assembly line".
The International Buster Keaton Society: Yep, I have been frequenting this one alot. I wish I was a Damfino, but for now I will just peruse from the outside.
Silent-Movies.org: Tons of photos for references on art projects. A few favorites are Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd, Charlie Chaplin, and Stanley Laurel in the "Silent Gents" category.
You're Only Young Forever: my Harpo Marx sanctuary. It has all my art, photos, links and Marxist interests.
